At first when I heard about "thesis statements" was I am so confused! Then my lecturer gave an explanation, but.... I still can't think about it!! What is actually thesis statement? Okay after do some exercise that has given by my Madam Baiti, yeayy at the end I can understand what thesis statements was about. Basically, thesis statement is that sentence or two in your text that contains the focus of your essay and tells your reader what the essay is going to be about. Did you understand? Okay let it be more simple. Thesis statements is actually a "main idea" of the whole essay. Thesis statement is very important in your writing because if you cannot sum up the essay's main idea in one or two sentences, you are probably does not yet clearly grasp the topic. Thesis statement is actually as a guide to remind you to keep essay focused and organized. While you writing a thesis statement, make it specific and strong as possible. It is means try to avoiding weak phrasing such as "in my opinion", "I think" and other words that show your opinions and suggestions. I hope my writing will guide you in doing essay writing. Caiyokk!
